Morphine

Some years ago while i was in a bar , drinking and listening music; i heard some bass with bend up and pull off. (pull off's were pursuing bend up's) Shortly afterwards, the sax came. I heard someone singing about a devil named buena. i was charmed. Before i came out of the bar, i had asked the name of this band. Being full , i forgot it in a second. Next day, i looked for this incredible guys. After some tough time, i found them: Morphine. A trio with sax, drums and two-string bass-vocal. A bluesy, jazzy rock&roll band without any guitars. The two string was exciting for a bass player like me...And i found out the lead singer had died 4 years ago.
Mark Sandman, bassist&vocalist, died of a heart attack at a concert on Jully 3,1999. He was 47.Too young to die, but too old to be a rock star. Sandman was born in Massachusetts, studied political science in Boston University, performed with lots of bands and worked as a blue-collar during 80's. When Morphine recorded the first album, Sandman was 40. He was a cool guy but never treated like a rock star. He was just making music and having good time with his family and well read girl friend, Sabine. He says that he started with one-string bass but we know that he broke the other two. Last friday being Sandman's deathday, i wanna give some more information about the band and him:
Albums: Good(1992), Cure for pain(1993), Yes(1995), Like swimming(1997)
Songs recommended by me: You Look Like Rain, Claire, Cure for Pain, Buena, Super Sex, Rope on Fire, Early to Bed
